Technology
Amerigon has been commercializing thermoelectric products since 1999. Amerigon with its subsidiary, BSST, has 19 patents issued related to thermoelectric applications and advancements.
A thermoelectric device (TED) is the heart of the compact heat pump built for use in the Climate Control Seat™ brand cooled/heated seat, our first and primary product. Air is forced through the heat pump and thermally conditioned in response to electronic switch input from the seat occupant. The conditioned air circulates by a specially designed fan through ducts in the seat cushion and seat back, so that the surface can be heated or cooled.
Amerigon has demonstrated, through its extensive experience with design for performance and manufacturability, technology expertise in the following areas:
- Air flow management
- Automotive testing capability
- Thermoelectric electronic control
- Continual design improvements in the areas of weight, noise, cost, and size
